New Home...New Job

The Switchpoint Thrift Store is officially opened and ready for business.  The last 6 weeks have been full of stress, tension, construction, and donations.  Dave is amazing when it comes to organizing and setting up the new store.  Even more amazing is the volunteers that followed him and are eager to work with him again.

After a soft opening 2 weeks ago it was time to make it official.  Let's have a party.

Fixed the sign
It looks great and just in time.

The mayor, city council members, city workers,
and volunteers.
Cut that ribbon!!!

Hold it tight and those large scissors actually work.
Let the sale begin.
Donate a can of food and receive 50% off your purchase.

Youth volunteer group
They stopped by to lend a hand
and were put to work.
This organization is pretty amazing with the variety of services available to the community.  They put everyone to work and are so happy that Dave is part of their team.

We are so proud of him and the hard job he has had these past 6 weeks.  It's amazing to see him work with these new people and share his knowledge with them.  They can't help being successful with the can do attitudes.

Give Me Liberty

Our awesome fifth graders have been working on the Give Me Liberty Program since the beginning of the year.  Reganne's class worked together and completed all the requirements by January.  They have a list of things that need to be completed by the end of the year to attend the bowling party and earn their t-shirt.

We kept asking Reganne if she needed any help with the Gettysburg Address, Presidents, or States & Capitals.  Nope Mrs. V had it under control.  There was only one student that didn't complete the program in time.

Time for the program....

Wave those flags

There is Reganne
surrounded by the boys.
Wow!!!
Look at all those kids, 5 classes of 5th Graders

Reciting her part loud and clear.
Reganne & Chey
Awesome job girls

It was a fun night with cookies for a treat.  However, Reganne forgot to get me a cookie as she ran out of the room with her friends.

Only one more week of school and the programs are officially over.  Fun & games for the last 4 days.

End of School Concert

The end of school is quickly approaching and with that all the school performances, projects, and tests.  Rylee was convinced there wasn't going to be one last concert since they had performed at SUPAF in April.

SURPRISE!!!! There was one more and it was a must attend or drop 50% of your grade.  There was no divide and concur tonight.  Instead the school performance won and no swimming lessons tonight.

8th & 9th Grade Choirs

Sweet Girl  & Friends
They did really well.  However, what happened to the fun concerts full of energy and fun singing.  In it's place was the slow, melodic tunes that show no emotion.  They sang Grandma's Feather Bed I loved singing that song and how fun it was to perform it.  Not this time!!! The kids sounded great and new the words.  The teacher druggggggg it out until everyone was relieved it was over.

Good news Rylee decided not to take choir next year.  I was sad at first but now I am really glad we don't have to sit through this concert again.

Time for ice cream or dinner or both?

Better Than...

Mother's Day an evening of pampering.  The boys along with the Wheeler boys went camping on Friday night.  The girls had a night out with mani-pedi's for everyone and dinner together.

How relaxing it was to sit and have your feet massaged.  NOT!!!  The lady working on my feet was a little rough and I tried really hard not to kick her.  Afterwards my feet hurt.

I found a foot spa and the new thrift store that would be perfect for everyone.

Sunday night after all day of begging it was time to break it out and enjoy.  Everyone wanted a turn and each enjoyed the bubbly water.  It was great.

It was finally Mom's turn and before I knew it Ryder was giving the best foot massage and Reganne did my nails.

It was the perfect ending of a busy weekend.  I felt so relaxed!!!  How long will that feeling last???

Final Soccer Week

The final week of spring soccer was a busy one.  Tuesday was the makeup game in Cedar City against the Rams.  Their previous match up was pretty tough but our girls came out on top.  The second match up would be different both teams fresh and ready to play.

Our minor set back was a different field  and I got lost.  Instead of arriving early to warm up we pulled up just in time for the game.

They played a good game the score was 5 to 1 with 15 attempts.  We had 27 attempts on their goal.

Saturday morning was a rematch with FCSG.  They were the first game of the season that out played us.

The girls were ready to play and had their game faces on.

Keeper on duty.

Still on duty
and working hard
Oops!!!
The ball wasn't supposed to go in.
Does it count when your team accidentally kicks it in
the opponents goal.
Reganne was trying to get in position but was a little short.
Second half
Harder than the first without fresh players.
Our girls were worn out.
FCSG dominated the game 32 attempts on our goal and only scoring 6 goals.  Reganne had a tough day with the constant pounding.  At one point she dropped, tucked, and rolled.  The offense kept on trying to get it in.  She held onto the ball despite the few extra kicks.

The final score was 6 to 1.  Our girls worked hard this season.  Their dedication and hard work really showed in these last 2 games.

The season ends and in two weeks tryouts begin for the fall season.  The girls all are eager to show their skills off and hopefully build a stronger team.

The teams better watch out for these hard working girls.

Happy Mother's Day!!!

My favorite, most trying, and most rewarding job is being a Mother.  Each day is full of new adventures and not so new challenges.  Today is all about ME!!!!  They promised no complaining they are bored, hungry, or tired.  Let's see how long that lasts.

The primary kids sang today in sacrament meeting I couldn't tell how loud they were or if you could even understand them.  Finished and headed back to our seats to of the youth speakers were in tears.  As I looked around there were more tears and smiles.  I guess you could hear them.

The men took over Primary for the last hour and we all got to attend Relief Society to be fed both spiritually & physically.  It was a great meeting.  Ryder informed me that I had been fired from chorister the Dads did an amazing job.

It is time for presents was Ryder's main question on the way home.

My special Mother's Day Plate from Ryder
(Valentine's Day Plate)
Thanks also to Mrs. Wilson it was a perfect gift.

Reganne drew & colored this perfect rose for me.
Her hands were covered in red ink.
The hazards of being an artist.
Our Awesome Kids.
The First made me a Mom.
The Second confirmed it
and
The Third threw me over the edge.
I love these kids and Dave they made my day really special. Letting me take a nap and clearing up dinner.

However, the whining commenced after the nap when boredom & hunger kicked in.

A mother's job is never done even on Mother's Day.

Should We or Shouldn't We???

That was the question of the day with this hairdryer.  The last couple of weeks it hasn't work very well.  Maybe it's been a couple of months.  I didn't want throw it away until it died all together.  Then last week it started to stink.  The horrible burnt hair stink that lingers and lingers.

Dave decided he was going to clean it out and see if he could get rid of the smell.  Out to the garage with all his tools he got it apart and cleaned out all the lint.

It worked!!!!

As he handed it back to me  to put away we noticed something in the nozzle.  Shaking it, pounding it, and shaking it a little more.  I though I knew what it was but before getting sick I let Dave continue to pull out the foreign object.  I looked at Dave and he looked at me.  Is it what I think it is????  He nodded his head confirming.  It was burnt cockroach parts!!!!!

The question remains Should We or Shouldn't We use it again?

Ironman Kids Race

It was Ironman time once again and not the Super Hero.  The race that blows my mind that so many people come to town to participate in.  This year flyers went with the kids inviting them to participate in a kids run the night before.  Ryder begged to do it.  A mile wasn't that far.  He even tried convincing the sisters to come too.  They refused rather loudly and no amount of begging could change their minds.

5:30 was the check in time and surprise!!! it was raining!!!  Jackets & umbrellas in hand we headed off to the tent.

Shirt & Number

A must stop!!!
Headed to the starting line.
He found a friend Blake (Mrs. Wilson's son)

Time for a quick smile and a few words
of encouragement.
They made it the one mile run.
and
very hot & sweaty, but all smiles.
The main finish line for tomorrow's race.
This boy was all smiles.
It wasn't that hard Mom and I want to do it again next year.  Were the two statements he made all the way home.  The rain stopped just before the race started which made it perfect outside.  The sea of orange was amazing and they succeed in their goal of 2,000 participants to set a world record.

A Good Helper

It is harder to catch Ryder in a helping mood but when I do amazing things happen.  I was headed off to a Primary Meeting on Sunday night and told the kids if they loved me they would clean up the kitchen before I got home.

This is what I found when I got home.

His stacking abilities are amazing!!
Another motivation is money.  The kids are always wanting money for an activity or a treat.  My brain child is an extra chore every day for $2.00 for the grand total of $10 per week.  What happens when they don't do them every day??? In the evening we all do the chore and nobody gets extra money.
He wrote this reminder note.
Posted the note where he would see it.
As a reminder to keep his eye on the prize.
More chores are getting done which makes me a happy mom.  I am hoping this will continue throughout the summer for a much cleaner house.

We love how his mind works and what he will do with the right motivation.

Holland's Baptism Day

After hanging out this morning it was time for the main event.  Holland was so excited and eager to get the show on the road.

One out of three smiles
We will take it.
We love this girl
and the choices she is making.
Matching smiles and matching outfits.
Yummy food afterwards.
These women are amazing cooks.
These kids were hungry
and ate all their food.
The after picture and still smiling.
Snap a picture Mom!!!
I had to take another for myself as
she rocks this outfit.
We forgot dress shoes when leaving the house at 5:45 AM
It was a great day full of good examples, good food, and great family.  Time to head to the airport and head home.  Let's hope Dave got some good pictures from the game.

Playing with Kason

This weekend was going to be a busy one.  We had the divide and conquer plan in play.  Ryder & Rylee were going with me to Salt Lake for Holland's Baptism.  Reganne was staying with Dave to play soccer.

This half was up early headed to the airport to catch our flight to Salt Lake.  It was a dreary rainy morning and we were ready for some sunshine.  High in the sky the clouds were amazing it was lost on them.

We arrived early enough to play with the kids and love on the baby.

Good babysitter he went right to sleep.

Pesky little brother trying to pester her
without waking Kason up.
This baby loves his grandma.
It was hard to capture the smile & giggles.
From both sides.
Love those chunky baby legs.
Amazing Momma that can do this trick.
I never could.
More laughs & giggles
It was a great day spent with family.  Wait there is still more.....

Waters' Sports Update

This week has been full once again with swimming lessons, karate lessons, soccer practices, goalie practice, and finally a soccer game.  Thank goodness these are spread over the whole week and not a couple of days.

Soccer Saturday started this week at 11:00 with plenty of gusty winds.  What is the point of wind? Other than the obvious of being annoying.  The wind can play a major role in the game depending on which side of the field you are defending.  One half it blew in favor while the other half blew against.

The ball bounced a lot mostly out of bounds.

Reganne waiting patiently.
Peyton getting ready to take flight or rather
the ball take flight away from the goal.
The girls played without subs and the stats were pretty even.  They were able to score 2 goals out for 15 attempts.  Our girls score 1 goal with 15 attempts.  No goals scored in the second half due to the ball being kicked out of bounds on every play.

The girls played their hearts out and still came up a little short. There are 3 games left in the season and I want to see the smiles once again.

Food Truck Wars

Came to DHMS and parents were invited to participate and decide the winners.  We were able to attend and give all our support to Rylee's Group.  The FACT's class had been busy trying out recipes, coming up with yummy treats, and presenting it to all the visitors.

We were treated to doughnut holes, yummy apple dumplings, and cheese rolls.  Rylee's group came in third this time.

We had a good time seeing all the kids interact with each other as well as other teachers who came to enjoy the yummy treats.

2016 Kite Festival

New location this year at DSU Encampment this is a great location very little dust & dirt but the wind still was blowing.  There even were a few gusts that blew the covers off many of the booths.  Once again what is wind good for?

Reganne & Ryder completed their reading logs and were eager to get their prizes.  Ryder found a book right off "The Mouse and The Motorcycle"  the first book in the series.  Mom, I can now find out how he got the motorcycle.  Reganne too a while longer but found a mystery book.

I found it!!!

Games & Treats

The older crowd ventured into the new location.
As I listened as they walked by they were fascinated
with whole event.
More games and maybe a free dinner!

2 spins
and
a free dinner!!!
It was a fun afternoon for everyone there.  As we left Reganne was a little sad that this was her last time earning her prize.  Next year moving to 6th Grade they are no longer a part of it.  I tried to comfort her that there will new adventures awaiting.  I am not sure she bought it.

Another busy weekend was winding down only to start another busy week.

Rage Spring Soccer Camp

No regular practice this week or game for us.  Instead it is Spring Camp w/ two professional players.  Reganne could only attend 2 days due to choir performances.  She made the most of it on Friday at the Goalie Shootout.  I arrived just in time to snap a few pictures.

Goalie on duty.
Changing of the keeper.
The balls kept coming
and
so did the laughs & cheering from the line up.

Professional players / coaches
They both told her what a good job she had done during camp.  She was stoked about the camp and maybe a little sad there was no game tomorrow.  She is turning into an amazing keeper and I think we will keep her as well.
