More Adventures

Dave found another recipe to for me to try.  Quick Pizza Crust with only 2 ingredients could that be true.  We definitely need to give it a try.

To Slow!!
I snoozed and missed the whole pizza.
Using Greek Yogurt & Self Rising Flour made pretty good crust.
This is a must use recipe again.

Breakfast pull a parts
Ryder had been begging for weeks for these.
He devoured them.
Chocolate Sugar Cookes from Six Sixers.
Need more chocolate & more frosting.  I was expecting more like a brownie
and not a brown sugar cookie with very little flavor.

Couldn't resist another look
at trying to get those dang candles to die.
Who wants cake with a little spit?

Party Time!!!

Time to celebrate Ryder turning 14.  Not sure where the time has gone or how he survived another year.  The skies had cleared up and sun came out just in time to celebrate a little.  The birthday boy had plans.  Late lunch or early dinner at Olive Garden.  He was then headed to the rodeo with a friend.

Always time for Birthday Cake!!

Blow them out and make a wish.
WHAT!!!

Blow harder

What is going on?
There sparking a little.

Still sparking!!

I bought new candles
No where did it mention on the package that they
where trick candles.
The only way to put them out was dousing them with water.
It was fun to watch him keep on trying to blow them out.
I couldn't have planned this better if I had planned it.l

Ryder & Jorgen
Friends enjoying the rodeo.

We hope this crazy busy boy enjoyed his birthday.  He is always planning but always changing his mind.  He tires me out daily with how fast his mind works.  His new plan is now being 14 is getting a job and earning money for his future business deals.  We love him and are glad he is a part of family.

Ironman 2021 World Championship

We were given the opportunity to volunteer at the Ironman Championships here in town.  However, neither Ryder or I have volunteered for something like this.  We had no idea of what we were doing.  Everyone seemed to know just what to do and we had to learn.

Race setup
Finding our spots, getting our shirts, and wrist bands.

How to make it through
this maze.

The birthday boy
Waiting patiently or not for more instructions.

Transition Area
Look at all this stuff.

The pros coming through.
They were amazing to watch them compete.
Some even their own entourage supporting them.

WHAT!!!
No rain in the past couple of weeks.
Today it's coming back!!!
3 times getting soaked, thunder, lightening, hail, and wind.
Security cleared our area out at one point.
We were soon back on track.

Three hours later
The everyone was still coming in waves.

Ryder was anxious to leave.
See him waiting on the sidelines.
One problem my relief hadn't showed up yet.

The bags left one by one
In their place the bikes piled in one by one.
Ryder was exhausted from running the bikes up the slight hill.
The slight incline seemed to get worse as the morning continued.

I am ready to volunteer again.  It was fun learning something new and very different.  Ryder wasn't so excited to repeat this experience.  Could be that his friends all backed out at the last minute.  He didn't know anyone and his mean mom refused to let him no show.  Hopefully it was a good learning experience if not we completed some fundraising for swim.

He was ready to start his birthday celebration!!!

Snippet of the Week

Once again I love the pictures that get sent to me during the week with the various adventures the kids are enjoying.

Rylee & Ruston borrowed the Hummer and headed to Lake Powell.

Where did the water go?
The beach is doubled in size since out last visit.

Lone Rock
This looks like you could walk out to it with no problem.
The drought is really taking a toll on everything around here.

Mitchell Waters' Wedding
We had to divide and conquer.
Dave went to the wedding and I went with Ryder to his swim interview.
We met with Ryder's new swim coach to talk about goals and desires for the new swim year.

Waiting not so patiently for his COVID Vaccine.
This past week we learned that a former teacher from our daycare had passed away fro COVID.  She was only 31 years old.  She did have some other issues that didn't help things.  Then Ryder's former Deacons/Scout Leader had been put in the ICU with COVID.
This rattled Ryder enough that he began looking for places to get the shot.  He was up at 5:30 by my bed telling me that he found an appointment all I had to do what check him out of school.  I convinced him to go back to bed.  3 hours later he was texting me to see what I had found.  The health department offers a walk in clinic until 4:00.  He could wait until Friday or go this afternoon.  He was ready for it now!!!
That was until we got there and then he wanted to change his mind.  The nurse kept on talking to him as he voiced his fears.  She then showed him how to hold his arm then quickly jabbed him.
THAT'S IT?
Will I get him back for the second dose?  That remains to be seen.  I did see him physically relax afterwards.  He had done all he could do to protect himself.

Rhonda is stuck

This great Christmas present comes in handy when I don't have time to always vacuum.  I started it on its cycle and then went about cooking dinner.  If you don't want her to wonder too far off track you need to close all doors of off limit areas.  I then get an urgent text message that Rhonda is in trouble.  We begin to look for her.  Who opened the doors?  NOT ME of course came the replies.  As I continued to look in the areas that normally mess her up I can't find her.  I even try the locator button and can hear the alarm and still nothing.  2nd attempt the alarm goes off and I look down.  She was wedged under the entry table and can't move forward, back, or sideways.

It struck me that we all need help at times.  How lucky we are to have family, friends, and even our Heavenly Father available to help us out when we get jammed.  We just have to remember to ask for the help either by asking, texting, and even prayers.

Weekend with Family

Labor Day Weekend was one to look forward to.  Not only is it the last holiday weekend of the summer and it's still warm outside.  This year we had family come to visit.  It has been awhile since we have had visitors either due to COVID but everyone is busy with their families.  Sarah & Mike came through town on their way to Las Vegas for Sarah's birthday.

We each took Friday off to enjoy the day showing off our little part of the country.  We went for a drive from Tech Drive to Sand Hollow.  We had lunch at Poncho & Lefty's for a late lunch with Ryder tagging a long.

We were all tired but made plans to get together for breakfast the next morning at Bishops.

Dave, Sarah, and Mike

Dave received some family pictures from their aunts that Sarah had never seen before.  Copies need to be made for everyone to have.  Stopping at Steamroller Copy Center before breakfast.  They would work on them while we had breakfast.  We got the call they were ready.  It was a race as to who could get there first to pay for them.  Dave decided to call ahead and pay for them over the phone before we arrived.

Sibling Standoff
It was interesting to watch these two fight over who should pay.  Can't imagine how these two would have survived if they grew up together?  They are both so generous and competitive.  Mike & I stood off to one side and them them have their fun.

Looking at the order.
One problem appeared when we got them out to look at.
No wonder they were all done so fast.  There was only one copy of each picture. The double sided pictures didn't match correctly.
Take them back or deal with what we have?
Sarah took the copies with plans to get them straightened out and copies for the whole family.

Still Family
Even with the picture fiasco they were still smiling.

I sure wish I had snapped more pictures.  We had a great time laughing, talking, and learning more about each other.  I love this family and how accepting they are of us.  They also give the best hugs.

Sunday night we had another surprise visit from Randy & Janelle on their way home from Las Vegas.  They had been down to the BYU Football Game and visiting Janelle's family.  It was great to spend time together and catchup.  We loved seeing how their kids keep growing.  They must be feeding them the same stuff we do since ours keep growing as well.  We dashed Kason's dreams of taking home the fun Nerf guns he found stashed away in the basement.  I convinced him that they would be here the next time to visit.

What an exhausting weekend but oh what fun to visit with our families.  The let down after everyone left was a little depressing since who knows when the next visit would be.

Snippet of August

August has been a busy month going back to school, working, swimming, and maybe a little fun thrown in to make it less painful.  The heat is still brutal with temperatures reaching over 100 degrees every day.  No matter how bad the heat gets we still move forward each day.

New haircut with curtain bangs.
She had a friend cut & style it for her.
It looks really cute on her and makes her look even more grown up.

Ouch!!!
Answer a phone call to screaming that he is bleeding.
Dave was home but Ryder wanted to scream at me instead.
Rylee helped him wash it out and put a bandaid on it.
It wasn't as bad as we thought at first.  He is up to date on his tetanus shot.
He will live to fight another day.

Nice bottom shot!!
He loves to put his feet in the air and give me a bottom shot every day.
This one however is legit.  Swimming the 1000 Freestyle @ B,B, & W Meet.

It was a good month full of various activities.  I will be playing catchup for the next couple of months with all housework, decluttering, and maybe even some deep cleaning that hasn't been done.  Why does cleaning have to be so difficult?  Every time I finish one job I turn around and see another one that needs to be done.  Or a dirt spot that I missed!!!  Job security or insanity I am not sure which applies.  My vote is to forget it all and have fun.
