2020 SUPAF Beginning Band

New adventures with a band student.  I remember by brother going to these every year but didn't understand what it was or what the kids do.  My schedule was pretty light at work so I volunteered to chaperone for the morning.  Ryder wasn't to anxious for me to go as surely as I would embarrass him.  He finally conceded as we were off.  Meeting the kids at 8:30 for a wild 3 mile bus ride with nervous kids, a whole grundle of instruments, and only 3 other adults.  I was on the red bus with Mrs. Wood and the noisy brass section.

We made it to DHHS I volunteered to stay with the bus and make sure everyone made it off.  More importantly inside and on stage.  Goal accomplished!!!

Setting Up

Tuning Up

Performing

Waiting patiently
They sounded really good.  This time you could understand what songs they were playing.  They also followed along really well with Mrs Wood.  I was tasked with recording the performance and didn't do to bad it you can stand the slight shaking.  It was then waiting for the next band to get ready to perform.  One minor hitch the buses hadn't shown up yet at that school.  Who was going next??

The kids were pretty good as waiting and not causing to many problems.  We got to watch 2 other schools perform and then it was time to find our bus.  A quick role call with too many names I didn't pronounce very well.  We headed back to school.  The kids were starving and so was I.

We had a fun adventure and Ryder even thanked me for coming along.

January Round Up

The longest, coldest, dreariest month of the year has passed.  A few last memories to close out.

Miss St George Royalty

To much royalty in one room.

Parents Meeting
A reminder that their year is coming to an end.

Mesquite Car Show
Ryder loves the door wings.

Father & Son shared passion.

Watch out!!
She loves fire, we need to keep an eye on her.
We did have some fun thrown in with all the activities this past month.  We look forward to warmer weather, more school activities, swim meets, and just plain craziness that is our life.

2020 Snow Melt Swim Meet

It has been over a month since the last meet due to this one being moved back two weeks.  Ryder is anxious to get this started and hopefully improve his times.  I left early from work to hopefully avoid additional anxiety from Ryder.  It didn't work out to well the nerves hit him bad.  Thank goodness for Jimmy John's sandwiches at lunch.

Love the silent pool
The kids were all getting ready for warm ups.

You can't really tell but they
are all swimming in sync.

He needs larger arms
or smaller handwriting.
While he was swimming I was officiating.  My assignment on Friday was gathering the calls from the other officials.  Saturday I was training a guy from Cedar City who was from Santaquin and went to school with Darryl & KrisAnn.  It was a fun weekend and he made amazing strides in his times.  Not enough to qualify for state but there is another chance or rather the Last Chance Meet in Cedar City in two weeks.

Honors Choir 2020

This was Reganne's 2nd year participating in the WCSD & DSU Honors Choir.  This year she didn't so much as volunteer instead the choir teacher signed the Trebles Choir up.  This year it was a one day event at the college campus working with various teachers from across the district as well at the college professors.  We had another surprise that Dacoda was part of the CCHS choir.  Instead of sitting by myself like last year Dave, Blake, and Julie joined me.

They all sounded amazing!!! They had the music after winter break but only worked with each other and the directors for one day.  These kids are amazing!!! Can't wait to see what they do over the next few years.

Happy Birthday St George

The second Saturday of January is always Root beer Floats with the city officials to celebrate St George's birthday on January 17th.  The royalty is back together to celebrate with everyone else at the social hall.  This is one event that I have taken the kids to since Rylee was teeny tiny.

It was a fun afternoon hanging out with the girls.  I love to see how much they have grown over this past year as they met new people and made new friends.  They left soon after to check out another sponsor's new shop.

Welcome 2020

How do you spend the first weekend of a new year.  We spent ours at Zion's National Park it was sunny but a little chilly.  The girls weren't up joining us instead wanting to sleep in and relax.  Dave, Ryder, and I set off to find a good trail to hike.  We had a couple hit and misses but soon found one that worked for everyone.

Ryder
Trying to decide if this was a good trail or not.

The boys
They love to tease each other.
Ask Dave about the rocks.

Cactus field
Who would of guessed we could
find this many here?

Please hurry!!!
He can't stand still for even a minute.
He wanted to explore.
It was a fun morning with lunch in Springdale.  Now to head home and get ready for early morning church.  9:00 shouldn't feel early but it does on Sunday.

The kids are getting older.  Ryder slept in until 7:00 and quickly woke everyone else up.  I think Dave was awake earlier but quietly waited

Christmas Breakfast
Memories
but with new technology

Favorite shirt

Yummy food
Dave & Blake along with Dacoda & Ryder made a yummy breakfast.  It was then time to take that wonderful Christmas morning nap.   We all met up again later in the afternoon for Christmas linner of smoked ham, funeral potatoes, and veggies.

It was a great day full of family, friends, and even yummier treats.  The only downside was Rylee down in bed not feeling good.  I remember those days myself.  Hopefully she outgrows it like I did.
