The Kite Festival 2017

Ryder worked really hard on his reading and was eager to get his book.  It was hot & windy on the college campus there was still plenty of people enjoying the wind and flying their kites.

Check out my book.
The author has my name.  Let's hope he enjoys them.

Playing all the games.
Treats, prizes, and balloons what more
can a kid ask for?

Check me out as Brooks
The college should have had a stool for the kids to use.

Catching up with our friend Ron.

It was a fun afternoon and a great reward for all the reading the kids across the county have done since January.  Ryder also completed the last requirement for his Lion Pride Award from LVE.

Time to relax and enjoy the night..

Soccer Saturday...FCSG

We are ready for a warm soccer game.  Sullivan Soccer Park has very little shade.  However, we ran  into a small problem of missing girls.  There would be no subs today.  The girls are all on their own.  FCSG is one of the premier teams in the league so it was going to be a long hour.

The whistle blew and the Rage Girls went to work.  Reganne was on duty at the goal.  Our defense was really struggling trying to keep them out of position.  19 attempts and 6 goals in the first half.  Reganne was ready for a break.

Let's try being a Striker.
The second half was a little better with 1 attempt for us.  5 attempts and 4 goals for them.

Sweaty & Tired
These girls played hard but are running low on confidence.  They try really hard but without all members of their team they can't be successful.

Two more games of the season and hopefully they will all hang in there.

More Easter Fun

Breakfast at Bishops with a lot of bacon we were off to the car show.  The Easter Car Show is Dave's main thing to do this weekend.  Thank goodness for great weather and plenty of cars to see.

These two were in heaven.

Dad, is this engine like yours?

Time for more activities....

Friday,  the kids made confetti eggs with
the Zufelt Kids.
We found time to make our Kool Aid eggs.
This year instead of water we used vinegar.
It worked so much better.

Easter morning and baskets.
There needs to be more chocolate.

See ya later!!!
I know have candy and all I need is my bed.

Easter Weekend

Early Saturday morning time for Easter Egg Hunts.  Times have really changed around our house the only one interested was Ryder.  He was in for the candy and the SkyWest hunt was good for that.

Graduated to the oldest group.
High Fives from the bunny himself.
Why is she looking at him that way?
Dad you are so embarrassing!!!

The whistle blew!!!
The grounds were soon picked clean of all eggs.
A good haul
He had a lot of fun planning his path and method to best pick up eggs.  Dad convinced him to share with the Easter Bunny's daughter since her Dad kept her from getting any.

After sharing and giving back the stuffed carrot he was ready to eat.  Get this boy some food so we can enjoy the rest of the day.

Pack Meeting Time Again

We are so happy that the weather has been really awesome and pack meeting was going to be outside.  The boys were full of energy and bouncing around the fields.  They were so excited to play kickball that holding still for awards was nearly impossible.

Bear Den waiting patiently.

Comparing awards
They had their awards and treats time to play ball.  Quickly dividing into 2 teams they were ready. Parents stand back and the ball began to fly.

All the boys and even a few sisters were having such a great time playing together.  It was hard to end the night but the light started to fade.  It was time to head home tomorrow is a school day.

Afternoon Soccer Scrimmage

Instead of soccer practice on Monday they were going to scrimmage United FC across town.  Reganne was once again playing the Goalie position and was hard at work.  It was a perfect night for some soccer.

Then the unexpected happened the coaches decided to let Reganne try the Striker position for awhile. She soon moved toward the goal and made her first attempt.  It went wide, but the smile on her face was priceless.  Before long her and another forward were soon competing for the ball.  They even had a couple more attempts.

I'm what position?

Striker!!!
No goals but the eagerness to try again and work harder.  She loved the freedom of moving around the field and stretching her legs.  Maybe she will get to try this position again in a game this season.

No games this week due to Spring Vacation & Easter.

Slime

We made it home in one piece with full bellies and drier clothes.  Michael's Craft was holding a Slime Clinic and Ryder was the only taker.  We arrived 5 minutes late to a full classroom and a line waiting for the next opening.  A quick thinking staff put together more tables and supplies.  Ryder was ready to get started.

Almost missed this.
Thank goodness I still read the newspaper.

Waiting patiently or not so much.

Adding glue, baking soda, paint, and
contact solution.

Stir vigorously
and sparkles & other stuff.

Kneading
The hardest part of the whole process.

Success
He loved the whole process and was ready to make more.  Too bad most of the ingredients were out of stock due to the high volume a students.

Ryder loves making new things and being creative.  It was a fun afternoon spent with this energetic boy that I love so much.  I may need to find more fun activities we can do together.

Road Trip Game 4

It was a road trip game this week in Cedar City.  This time of year is always a challenge in Cedar with the weather.  Guessing plays a bigger part will it rain, snow, blow, or shin?  Do we wear shorts, sweats, winter coats, or short sleeves?  Even a bigger challenge is the game started at 9.

We headed out and some of us wore layers and some brought only a jacket.  Who will survive this game?

It was raining when we left home and didn't stop during the drive.  Will they or won't they cancel when we get there?  It's Cedar City and they don't cancel due to weather.  Everyone get ready to play.

The whistle blew and so did the wind.  Snapping our large umbrella in half off to the dumpster with that one.  Dave & Ryder were wet and cold so they headed back to the van.  Layers won!!!!

Soaking wet sweatshirt adds an
additional 5 pounds to carry on the field.
Trying to warm up
Thank goodness I keep blankets in the back of the van.

Team Cheer
We finally see the sun.
The girls played hard but soon wore down due to horrible weather.  Reganne was so cold & wet she couldn't get any high & far kicks off.  She had 27 attempts and 7 goals.  The sun started breaking through the last 15 minutes of the game.

Time to head home.  We found Dave & Ryder jammin to the radio warm and almost dry.  We were still wet, tired, and hungry.  Time for lunch and head home.

Soccer Game 3 vs Cima

The girls have been practicing hard this past week getting ready for this weeks game.  Cima arrived ready to play as well.

Reganne was up first as Mid Defender and she was ready for them.

Getting ball away for them.
It was a rough first half with twenty-two attempts and four goals.  Reganne was back in as Keeper.
She was ready for more hard work and very determined to stop them.

Kicking High and far
Second half was just as hard as the first with another 22 attempts and 4 goals.  Our girls did break away with one attempt.  Our girls are working hard but the gold bracket is kicking their trash.

We are now half way through the season.  You can see the progress they are making.  Next week is a travel week to Cedar.  Let's hope everyone shows up.

Pajama Sunday

It was General Conference weekend or as the kids call it Pajama Sunday.  I look forward to the time of listening to all the talks and hear the messages they have to share with us.  The morning session started as we enjoyed Rylee's birthday breakfast.  Ryder had begged Dave to get out his metal detector earlier and this is how I found him.

He sure looks ready to be outside.

Building forts while listening.
Oops Ginger is a little too big.
She also ate some of his goldfish cracker.

What are these two doing?
Sharing more goldfish crackers

He had fun during the morning session but had a hard time cleaning up afterwards.  Time to clean up and get ready to celebrate with Rylee.

We have 6 months to wait for another Pajama Sunday and I am already looking forward to it.

Happy 15th Birthday Miss Rylee

She was full of plans for her special day.  However, this year it fell on Sunday so she planned for 2 special days.  She had to be flexible so instead of a birthday dinner it was going to be lunch at Brick Oven.  After eating our fill of pizza, salad, and even dessert she was off to have fun with her friends.

Sunday morning arrived with first with sleeping in then with cinnamon rolls.  She wanted a pajama day since it was conference weekend.

Still in pajamas it was time for presents & cake.

Wacking Reganne in the head.
Inside the box was
the ukulele she had asked for.

Makeup was her other request.

Yummy chocolate cookie dough ice cream cake
Only one candle would go down inside.
Make a wish....

Dad decided to unthaw the cake
with another round of lighting
the lone candle.
We hope she had a great time celebrating her special day.  How she is growing and turning into a beautiful person.  One more year before we have to worry about the driving, dating, and possibly working.

We hope she keeps on smiling, growing, and learning.  She an important part of our family and we love her so much.

Soccer Saturday..Game 2

No rain in sight and this week playing at DHS.  The stadium was dirty full of trash.  A suggestion to the administration all kids in lunch detention clean the stadium.

Dave once again provided yummy breakfast burritos and a coke.  I could get used to this breakfast and it could become a tradition.

The Mesquite team was on time and our girls were ready to play.  These girls have always given a hard time and this morning wasn't going to be any different.

First Half...Mid Defender

Give me that ball...
Reganne demands and keeps the pressure on.

Second Half...Keeper
19 attempts and 2 goals for the second half.  We had 4 attempts of our own.  More things to work on in practice this week.  Next week they will be on the road to Cedar City.

SRIS Wax Museum

Margaret Roper

It's been 3 years since our last visit to the school's wax museum.  Reganne was busily preparing her report and searching for the best costume.  She wanted to get the best grade possible.  The one difference this year was the kids were asked to draw out of a hat their person.

Reganne drew Margaret Roper the first woman to write a book back in Medieval Times.

Performance day arrived and she was ready to perform.  The museum was setup in the Language Arts Hall.  There were painters, explorers, princess, and adventures lining the walls press the buttons and hear their stories.

Reganne was prepared and kept in character.  I stole a few pictures and even grabbed a quick hug before they were done.

She still isn't sure she likes the whole performing thing but she did have fun this time.
