Snap Shots Week of February 15th

The crud still hasn't left me altogether but there are pictures still coming in that just need to be shared.

The activity day boys surprised her for Valentine's Day.

Piper trying to wrestle with Dexter.
A loud bark, a snap, and a tail swish as he walks away.

This picture popped up on my Facebook Feed.
Happy Birthday Dad!!
It's. hard to believe that you would be 78 if you were still with us.

She had a little visitor in her bathroom.
Panic once again set in.
Traps, Spraying, or Hunting?
Hunting won out and not another one in sight. For now.

Super Bowl Sunday

Everyone is ready to party except for me.  I'm still feeling the effects from the crud.  Church was a no go since I didn't want to spread whatever this is.  Thank goodness that we can still watch it online.  Dave & the kids are ready to party.

Dave preparing the burgers

Is there enough for everyone?
That is always his question for me.  I never seem to prepare enough food for what he has planned.

In heaven
Cooking in his outdoor kitchen.
The tv playing over his shoulder with all the pregame.
Family dinner outside in the sunshine.

Reganne & Piper
Watching the Puppy Bowl
Piper was going crazy while watching the dogs on TV.
This crazy dogs will come running when she hears animals on TV.  She then watches and barks at them.  She then will run to find Dexter and try to get him to watch as well.
Dexter usually walks off.  I can just imagine what he is saying to himself.  Dumb dog!!
doesn't she realize they won't play with her.

It was a good game even with the crazy outcome.  I was ready for bed and hopefully sleep the remnants of this crud off.

The Crud

We had the rounds with COVID / Allergies in January.  We should have been in the clear.

That is until getting a wake up call 2 AM that Reganne isn't feeling well and threw up.  Up and down over the next couple of hours before she finally settled down to sleep.

Two days later the another wake up call once again at 2 AM but this time from Ryder.  He to was throwing up.  Another couple of hours cleaning up before heading back to bed.

Bleary eyed morning arrives time to decide what the next step is.  COVID Tests, stay home from school, or plenty of buckets.

Free government test
Ryder is up and ready to be tested.
NEGATIVE!!
Could it possibly be just a stomach bug?
One by one each of us drop to this crazy little bug.
Rylee, Dave, Ruston, and then finally me.

I can't keep anything down.
Randy suggested this to help with the dehydration.  Lucky for me I had a free sample from Walmart.
I hate Gatoraid, Poweraid, and everything in between.  This had a good taste but really sweet.  I could only get half down.

Dinner for me
Soft boiled egg on toast
It tasted so good after a few days without food.
It stayed put but my appetite didn't improve much.

New normal
When not feeling well, work from home.
Piper would lay by my feet or look out the window while I worked.

Something would catch their eyes and
out of nowhere the barking would start and my heart rate would skyrocket.
I am positive this wasn't good for my already jumpy stomach.

Everyone being sick meant no Super Bowl Party with the Wheelers this year.  All we want to do is sleep.  Nope that was just me that wanted to sleep.  Everyone else is feeling much better and ready to party.

Welcome February

Or maybe it's still January with crazy weather around our state.

Courtesy of Grandma JeanAnn
She woke up this week to snow.

Courtesy of Dave
Instead of moisture we had a whole lot of wind.
My reply did the wind blow it down? Dave laughed at me for the next few days.
Of course the wind blew it over.

Grandma JeanAnn came for a visit.
The kids have been begging her to come down since it has been since Christmas.
We went shopping me for pepper and her for fabric.

Visiting Reganne @ work
It was time for a snack and Sconic shares the parking lot.
We pulled into a space and waited for her to come say hi.  Lucky for us she was on car hop but was busy running between cars and back to pick up their food.
She came to take our order and to say hi.  She did warn us that we were stuck for awhile.
It is Happy Hour!! the drive thru lane was backing up to outside the parking lot.  We were definitely trapped.
We had a great time visiting but the line was no where near ending.  I finally jumped out and asked the car behind us if they would kindly let us out.  We made it out and back home.

Just One More Time...

Just a few more snap shots....

I believe they should use these pictures
for the engagement photos.
They are so perfect.

Final College Meet
This time I made it on time thanks to the communication
between the pool manager and myself.
This one lasted 2 hours.
The girls are amazing to watch.  Knowing how much preparation has gone into their college years.
I don't know any of them personally. The smiles on their faces and those of their families say it all.  They completed a successful college swim career.

Congratulations Rylee & Ruston!!!

It is official Rylee & Ruston are engaged!!!  We all knew it was coming but not when it would happen.  Ruston was definitely keeping it a secret from everyone.

Rylee send me these pictures that they had taken.  I was sure an announcement was in there somewhere.  Yet nothing but silence.

Perfect background
and lighting.

Love how she
captured their personalities

Airport Hill

I am at another swim meet when I get a call from Reganne telling me that it is going to be go time.  WHAT!!! I am hiding the ring in my room.  I make it home in one piece but no more news.  Time to clean house and take my mind off the new adventures that are awaiting our family.   It's getting late maybe tomorrow?  Not that late there is still time.....

It's Official
and of course she said yes!!

Then chaos broke out with phone calls, pictures, and even a few text messages.  No date yet but in the fall.  We are so excited for these two and the many adventures that await them.

Let's hope we all survive until then.

Snap Shots - January 23rd

Here are more random pictures over the past couple of weeks.

Ryder + drag race car = Way too much speed
for Mom's comfort.
Thank goodness he was just checking it out at the Mesquite Car Show.

DSU Pool
I was able to officiate at the college meet.
One minor oops!! They started an hour earlier since both teams were ready to go.
The college was worried about the rise in COVID cases in town.  The pool manager didn't have my number to let me know.  Me arriving 1/2 hour early was greeted by the coach.  He kept apologizing that they started without me.  Would I be willing to come back for their final meet in a couple of weeks?
I gave everyone my contact info and assured them I wasn't mad at them.
See you in a couple of weeks.

Fire in the neighborhood.
You always dread those phone calls that start guess what? Followed by there is smoke by your house and fire trucks pulling into your neighborhood.  Thankfully, I was already in the car heading back to work from a ministering lunch.  At first no signs of smoke as I drove towards home.  The turn in was blocked by various police cars, fire trucks, and is that an ambulance?  Going the back way into the neighborhood I was glad our house was safe.  However, my heart sank seeing our neighbors house surrounded by the trucks.
Side View
Thank goodness for observant neighbors.  They quickly called 911.
Found & connected hoses and started trying to maintain the fire.
The owners were out of town.  Their realtor showed up early for a showing.
The quick actions helped greatly.
Sad part is that there was still a whole lot of damage.

SNOW!!
We had snowflakes this week.
The few flakes we had really showed up on black top of the car.

Lunch out at Freddies
This boy goes from zero to starving in less than 5 minutes.
After the swim meet he required food immediately.

We have almost survived January just a few more days.  We are definitely ready for spring and warmer weather.  What we could really use is another month of wet weather.

2022 Snowmelt Classic Meet

Winter break is over and it's time to head back to the pool for the next meet which is also one of the final meets for the short course season.  Everyone is eager to swim and hopefully qualify for state.  I am excited to be back at the club level after a month of various levels.

Snapping a quick picture
of warmups.

Team Cheer
It's getting really loud in here.
The meet hasn't even started.

Everyone seemed to have a good time.  Dropping time, making qualifying times for state, and even a few groans when they gained time.
