2022 SUSA Sizzlin Summer Invite

AKA as the Memorial Meet held each year on Friday & Saturday on Memorial Weekend.  This years meet is at DSU instead of SUU in Cedar City.  The kids excited for the 2 meet of the long course season.  Everyone has been working so hard and it isn't even summer yet.  I was glad to be back on deck to officiate since I got sick at the last meet.

On the blocks
and ready for a flyover start.

In the zone
waiting for his event.

Bobbing heads
during the breast stroke.

Everyone had a good meet as well as a good time.  Ryder's times are improving and hard work keeps him moving in the right direction.

Splash-a-Thon / Lights Out Lock In

It's that time of year again to start fundraising for swim team.  We had participated in various fundraising events this past year but it was the home stretch with a swim-a-thon with all the kids.  Ryder was anxious to get started, finish, and get food.  Time to get started swimming.

They are off
Some going fast, some steady, and even a few that swam a little here and there.

Oops teenager memory lapse
Everyone needed to bring a counter with them.
I needed to count for another team member.
Ryder pounded thru and finished in under 1 hour.
Time for food and a quick nap.
Before spending the night at the rec center with Lights Out Lock In.

Exhausted!!
He was wide awake and ready to greet the day.
However, as soon as he sat down and buckled up.
He was asleep.

When he finally woke up it was once again time to eat.  He had a great time hanging out with everyone.  Until next year when we can do it all over again.

Final note he had the best time for his team.  Steady swimming wins the race.

Saturday Afternoon Adventure

What better way to spend a boring Saturday afternoon with zero kids at home?  A car show at the Dixie Center.  This wasn't the usual local show instead a California show.  This was a large show with all lowered cars & trucks.

This car was pretty cool
Even better its cool inside.

Crazy crowd
Waiting for a contest to start.

How low can you go?
I have never seen this played with cars.

Ford Fairlane
All decked out and ready to party.

It was a fun way to spend a couple of hours looking at these cars all decked out and lowered as far as you can go.  Dave went back for a second look with Ryder after he got off work.  Maybe they will be back next year for another show.

DHMS Concert Band Wrap Up

Ryder's concert band has worked really hard this year and was invited to perform at the Honors Night.  They sounded really good!!

Concert Band

Second performance and also the final performance of the school year.  There was a whole lot of movement on stage between each group.

Quick change in setup

Ready to perform
They sounded as good as the week before.
How many of these kids will be back next year.

The boys together and
working together.
Ryder, Corbin, and Reegan

It was another fun night at the school and I believe our final one of the year.  Ryder isn't sure if he will continue band next year.  Instead maybe move towards theater or speech & debate.  He sure can argue it maybe a good choice.

End of Year Fashion Design + Fashion Show

I am back delay was due to picture issues with the program.  After a lot of frustration I finally figured out away around the problem.  Time to catch up!!

The end of the school year is quickly approaching.  The end of the school year also means that there are concerts, displays, and assemblies to attend.  This year we have a new event the Fashion Design Displays + Fashion Show for Reganne.  I am not sure how she landed in this class.  It allowed her creativity to come through in a new & different way.  We were off on a new adventure...

Fashion Design Display
Truly a display of hard work over the last 4 months.
Even harder when it's the first period of the day.

Other have of her display.

Group project of reusing recycling, and repurposed .
Loved the attitude from the model Alyvia.

Designers & models
All taking a bow.

Dress made from garbage bags

Designers & Models

It was a fun night full of a lot of hard work, long hours, and dedication of the team members.  We also had yummy treats.  I loved the smiles on everyones faces as they left building.  The stress is over and now they can enjoy the last couple of weeks of school.

Look At Me

Dave received these pictures in a text message from Ryder.  He spent the afternoon with Ruston working on Fed Ex trucks.   He has become very involved in vehicle repairs & maintenance the past couple of months.  Ruston has been patient with him explaining as he does the work.  It is a great learning experience for Ryder.

Look at me!!!

This is what we are working on.
Isn't this cool.

We are hard at work.

The downside to learning this skill is all the grease.  Boy slime + Grease makes keeping my house clean nearly impossible.  If only he would learn to clean up after himself.  Someday I am going to miss the slimy, greasy mess or at least that is what I am told.
