More Fun at Home

While we were away the girls stayed home due to their work schedules.  Even with their crazy schedules they found time for a few adventures of their own.

Back to school manicure
for Reganne.
I love the colors but the length is going to be tough to work around.
The smile on her face is going to be worth the pain when she takes them off.

Cowboy Piper
Going with Rylee & Ruston to the lake.

Where are you headed?
Send me a picture...
Why do all her pictures look the same?
This is headed to Gunlock.

Ruston & Rylee
and Piper
This dog hates the water.  She loves getting on the kayak's
Hates getting wet.

It has been a busy weekend.  I am hoping for a little quiet over the next two weeks with no swim or running around.  Instead we need to get ready for school which might prove to be even crazier.

Beehive State Swim Meet

This is our first time at this meet.  It is usually held the weekend before the state championships and our team didn't want to travel twice in the same week.  This year the changed it to follow up afterwards.  The kids all needed qualifying "B" times to attend.  Ryder having missed "A" times in a couple of events by tenths of a second.  His "B" times qualified him for 6 events.

He is ready to swim and I am ready to officiate.

It's cool this morning
but the kids were ready to jump in.

Great morning
with great times.

Saturday morning...lunch didn't settle too well with me.  I was feeling like crap but the meet must go on.  We kidnapped Grandma for a second day.

Waiting for everyone to get into place.
Today's rotation was a little more involved since
we had more officials.

This diving platform looks like fun.

Doing a perfect flip turn.

WOW!!
Ryder medaled in every event.

Our SUSA Team

Coach Kate handing out
all the medals for the meet.

Great support from parents & coaches

He worked hard
and stayed out of his head.
Swam his heart out and was successful.

I believe they all cleaned up
in the medals.
One girl was missing due to trying to change.

Ryder declared it was time for food!!!  We can't be in Salt Lake without visiting the Greatest Pancake House.  There is a new location only 5 minutes away.  It was just as good as we remembered.  I still wasn't feeling the best so we decided to head home and not wait until tomorrow.   All I wanted to do was snuggle in a blanket and watch the Olympics.

This popped up on Instagram
It made us all laugh.

I have never been thankful for feeling awful until the news reported a horrible crash on I-15 due to a sand storm creating horrible conditions.  If we had stayed we could have possibly in the middle of this.  One of those tender mercies I am grateful for.  I was feeling better by Sunday afternoon.

Getting Out of Town

We had had a whole lot of swimming this summer.  This weekend ends the long course season with one final meet Beehive Championship Meet in Sandy at the Cottonwood Heights Aquatic Center.  It's a bright an early checkin time of 6:30am.  A meet that early means one thing it ends early as well.

We were ready for some fun and family time.  Our first stop was Brandon & Kim's house.  They had a busy time remodeling their house.  They also expanded their family with weddings and a new grand baby.  It was also lunch time and we all were definitely hungry.

Dave & Boston
Zac & Bree did an amazing job.
This cutie melted our hearts.

Even Grandma JeanAnn got her turn
holding the baby.
Ryder however wanted food!!!

After a long lunch at Olive Garden catching up with how everyone is doing and getting to spend time with Trevor as well.  Ryder's tummy was now full but his energy level was off the charts.  It was time for some play.  Motorized race cars on an inside track was definitely a must.  We found the place with a little help from Google Maps.  Deja Vu moment this is were the aquarium was located on our first visit.

Waiting to race.

They are up!!!

Moving way too fast for this mom.

The final score
on race one.
They are ready for a rematch.

Walk with a purpose
His car died or he killed it not sure.
Time for a new one.

Second race the sound a Mom doesn't want to hear a loud crash.  Looking up just in time to see Ryder's car bounce off the cement pole.  3 car wreck and nobody was moving.  What seemed like forever but was only probably 5 minutes or less the workers were there sorting the cars out.  Soon Ryder was off again as were the other cars.  After the race I was anxious to check him over.  He being all boy brushes me off and laughs that I was nervous.  He exclaimed that was great!!!

I don't know about anyone else but I was exhausted and ready to relax.  Tomorrow's session starts again at 6:30.

Lake Fun

This time with the youth of our ward are headed too Quail for some evening fun.  The clouds were a little daunting in the distance.  Would we get enough play time in before the bad weather or darkness take over.  I do know that the kids were ready to get out play.  Everyone met up at the church to load up and head out.  We loaded up a group and headed off.

Finding life jackets
for everyone!!
Thank goodness there weren't any arguments about wearing them while on the boat.

Ryder & Reegan
Evenly matched and ready to roll.

Crazy boys!!

After many trips around the lake with squeals, giggles, and a few screams the winds were picking up time to head to the dock.  Everyone had a great time and can't wait to go again.  The one weird moment the younger girls (Beehives) noticed the boys coming towards the boat.  She exclaimed did she look ok?  They are all way too young for the stuff.  These boys haven't reached that stage yet.  Their minds are on the tricks they would do out on the lake.  It is coming sooner than we would like.  If you listen closely you can already hear the cracking of the voices.

Hello Happy Place

What do you do when the Young Women show up at your door with cookies?  You listen to what they are asking.  They want us to bring our boat to their next activity at Quail.  We haven't had the boat out yet this year and it was definitely time.

Packing up
and
Heading out

Ryder loves driving
anything that moves.
When did he start growing?
That is my old life jacket he was wearing.

Check out the lines.
Everyone wants to cliff jump.

Love the billowy clouds

Water Babies
Reganne & Ryder

No riding required

Off she goes
Balance not so good.

She loved cooling off
Please no pictures!!!
Loved tubing!!
My hands are sore!

Everything is in working order.
We definitely are ready to play.

Dave was so relieved that everything was working and that the park ranger didn't stop up to inspect the boat.  The new boat tags haven't arrived yet so all we had was the paper receipt.  He was sure they would be all over us.  However, the ranger did walk by, said hi, and walked over to the teenagers driving another boat.  He proceeded to do an inspection and check their licenses.

I love my happy place and am glad we are back out for the rest of the season.

Here Comes the Rain...

The weather people keep telling us that monsoon season is going to pass us by once again.  Everyone is believing them and complaining about the drought.  Then BAM!!! the clouds came, followed by the wind, and way too fast was the thunder & lightening.  Dave loves sitting out back watching the weather every night.

Tonight we all sat outside and watched.

One drop and then a second one.

Piper. came out to inspect
the water falling all around.

The wind was whipping
the rain sideways.

It kept on coming.

We had to check the basement
the water was to the door.
Rylee's door let the rain in
the fast moping action took over.

Our weather station showed an inch of water in an hour.  We love the water and are very grateful.  It would be great if there wasn't flooding and fires.

SkyWest dry pond.
Not so dry after the rain.

All the limbs and broken branches

Everyone is in clean up mode around town.  It needs to be done before the next storm comes through.  It looks like it will be a couple of days before it arrives.

Escaping the Heat on Repeat

It keeps on repeating just like Ground Hog Day.  I know it's only going to be getting hotter since it is only July.  However, maybe this year we will get Monsoon Season to give us a break and water at the same time.

Reganne brought us home
these yummy slushy, ice creamy, strawberry treats to enjoy.

Where are you Rylee?
This was the picture she sent back.

Love this smile.
We warned her to take warm clothes for Northern California.
Well she didn't and she really cooled off.

We definitely need to find ways to cool off or find ways to enjoy the heat. We are open to any suggestions.

Beating the Heat

St George style means either driving somewhere cooler or hiding out indoors with the fans & AC going continually while bing watching something on Netflix.  Dave & Ryder were tired of hiding out.  Rylee went on a road trip to California with a friend.  Reganne was working.

The 3 of us were headed for a road trip ourselves.  We were going to Cedar City for lunch and a car show.

It's Hot!!

Lunch at Applebee's
Everyone was finally full if only
for about 15 minutes.

Cooler yes but it was still hot in Cedar City.  While is was 113 at home it was 90 here.

Checking out the cars.

Where to start and
where to look first.

Turning the corner
towards the various booths.

How about this car.

Or this one?

It was fun walking around checking out the cars and the booths.  Ryder wasn't as eager this year to play the games for a treat.  He did like the water one was handing out.  I was disappointed that the massage school wasn't here this year.  I sure could have used a chair massage if only for 5 minutes.

We headed home towards the heat.  More binge watching for the rest of the weekend.  Let's see who can find the best show to watch.
