Fall Fling Swim Meet

It's time for another swim meet the Fall Fling.  We must have been successful at the squad meet in August that the WCCC is willing to give us a chance now.  All the rules are still in play  with masks being the main requirement.  Check in was early so everyone could sign in and answer all the questions.  The kids headed to the pool for warm ups.  I headed outside to were the officials meet to enjoy the fresh air with no mask until the meet started.

The kids waiting patiently.

Sand Volleyball
The kids had to be outside while waiting
for their events.  I am not sure
but sand & water may not be a good mix.

Stream Line
This picture looked cool.
His stream line has come a long way since
last short course.

The 500 Freestyle
There was a slight disagreement about form
and which was best.
Coach Dani asked him to try his way on this event.

He wasn't as successful as he had hoped it would be.  The mile tomorrow he will do it her way.

Saturday morning check in @ 7:00 am.  Once again sign in, answer the questions, and wait until the whistle blows.

Cheering section!!!

It was a great meet with Cedar City Swim Club participating.  Ryder did very well except for one minor set back.  The boys lost count and he ended up swimming an extra hundred.  He will definitely be trying this event again to improve his time.

Events:
Mixed (Open) 200 Breast 36th Place, 3:23.75
Mixed (Open) 500 Freestyle, 35th Place, 6:45.53
Mixed (Open) 1650 Freestyle, 2nd Place, 24:03.40 (extra 100)
Mixed (Open) 200 Back, 30th Place, 2:46.80
Mixed (12 & Under) 50 Back, 4th Place, 36:72

He worked hard and was very tired by the end.  He still had energy to celebrate his birthday.

The Open events are for all ages 18 to 7 all competing together.  It is a great challenge for the younger swimmers to see how they are doing in comparison.  The next meet is in 2 weeks in Cedar City.

Stomping Out Another Week

How can a holiday weekend make the next week seem soooo long!!!  The gloom and doom coming from all the media outlets is really depressing if you listen to long.  I try to avoid large doses and take small bites when needing an update.

Trying my first Popeye's Chicken Sandwich.
Bribed Rylee with a free lunch if she
would try it with me.
She love it and I still prefer Chick Fil A.

More Google searches to find
DIY Cleaners
This one works the best on carpet stains (dogs)

Round to of dog grooming.

There is a lot of black & white fur flying.

They are not bald
and they smell a whole lot better.

Not bad!!!

Why does one always get left behind?
I have a freezer full of over ripe bananas.
I need to step up my game and make more banana bread.
I also hate over ripe bananas and the kids hate the green ones.

Taking Turns
It wasn't that long ago when they would refuse to share.
Now they are all smiles and wait patiently for their turns.

We survived and its back to warmer temps and the AC is back on.  Back to school & work tomorrow.  Let's all hope that this next week isn't as long.

Sizzling September

The world has gone crazy and the weather if following along.  The days are hot, windy, and very smoky.  So smoky that it smells like campfire and the sky is a crazy shade gray.  Next came the winds that blew like crazy destroying things that got in its way.  The biggest surprise was the weather reports of a large temperature drop actually happened.  Sunday was extremely hot!!! Monday not so much 30 degree drop!!!
Everything has gone crazy!!! From sweating to really chilly in less than 24 hours.  This is what cold, flu, and Covid season is going to look like.

This week is no different....

Blurry!!
Rylee started a new job at a dentist office.
Love the confidence she has in
her scrubs.

New request for food.
Mini Pesto Pizzas.

We went back!!!
To the movie theater that is.
Our seats were waiting for us along
with yummy popcorn.

15 people in the upper section
Nobody down below.
The movie David Copperfield was
very confusing to follow along with.
I needed some gun fire & things blowing up.
Maybe next time.

It finally happened!!!
Ryder is taller!!
We all knew that was bound to happen at some time.
I don't like the alternative that I'm shrinking.
That is something that isn't in my vocabulary.

What else will this month have in store for us?  There is sure to be spikes in Covid, more fires, and more smoke.  It may even heat up again.  We need to find time for a few adventures as well.

Adios August

Another month is the books and overall not much has changed.  The weather is still hot, school is still in session, and more homework than they want.  The virus is still here and moving right along.  Not much has changed as far as cases it has stayed pretty level.

That face says it all.
Need more pillows!!!

Stopped in Veyo for
famous pies.  The Veyo Volcano was yummy.

High school picture day.
Doesn't she look great!!!

Tried making biscuits again.
These turned out really fluffy & yummy.

Enjoying a nice dinner
@ Cliffsides.

Its hard to believe another month has flown by.  Time continues to march forward no matter what the news & world tries to convince us otherwise.  I am grateful that we live in an area that let's us move around and be as normal as possible.

Is it going to be a Speedy September?

Summer Small Town Road Trip..Enterprise

The corn is ready and so is Enterprise to celebrate a good harvest.  It was a beautiful day with blue skies and no wind.  Even better it is only about 90 degrees instead of the 110 at home.  We are ready to have some fun.
Corn Festival at the
kids game area.
They were loving it.

Car Show
These 2 were in heaven walking
and discussing their favorite ones.

Loved seeing Mater
hanging out front & center.

Holt Farms Corn Stand
No long lines this year grabbed 2 dozen
ears and we were on our way.

They day was still young let's take the scenic route home.  Not sure of the exact route we were taking thank goodness for Google Maps to give a directions.  We made our way through Beryl, New Castle, and then Cedar City.  Not many businesses out there but plenty of farms.

It was a relaxing afternoon drive a great thing for a Saturday.

Rylee's first day of college has finally arrived.  She is definitely ready to give it her all.  DSU here come a new freshman.

Didn't she just

Let's Do it Again

We are ready for the first full week of school.  Bring it on and let's get back to a schedule that works for everyone.  I am not sure it is possible with all the moving pieces but I sure am going to try.

Dang!!! It's hot.
Not sure if this is accurate but it was close
by all the readings around town.

Early morning off to school.
Taking his trombone back to school.
He found that he can ride his bike and carry it as well.

Afternoon ride with
Reganne for Drivers Ed.

Gunlock during the week
is pretty quiet.
Oops the gas is pretty low & no cell signal.
We headed back to town to pick Ryder up from swim.

Found these in the backyard.
I don't need a dryer to lose socks.
Ginger drags them outside.

Still working on front flip.

More pillows please
He keeps practicing and will eventually conquer it I'm sure.

Small town trip
to
Enterprise for the Corn Festival.
Oops it was postponed until next week.
The corn is not ready.

The routine is getting there however, nobody is jumping for joy to get up early for school.  The homework is starting to build.  We are taking our temps and packing our masks.  We are definitely wearing them around town as much as possible.  Only time will tell if these steps are working.  One good sign is with the temps staying too high everyone is indoors more than ever and the caseload hasn't been going up like crazy.  Let's hope this keeps up as the cooler weather arrives.  Maybe we won't get the cooler weather anytime soon.

Summer Small Town Road Trip...Kanab Part 2

26 years of living in Southern Utah we have heard about the Western Legends Rodeo in Kanab.  This year we were going for sure.  COVID-19 wasn't keeping this town down.  There weren't any of the usually older western celebrities but who knows what else we will discover.

We were off with Reganne driving the whole way.  The first stop light greeted us with protestors lining the road with varies signs.  I am not sure if they were for BLM or Trump since they had signs for both.  We need food first let's try Nedra's.  This is one that I have been intrigued about over the years.  My food was good everyone else was not impressed.  It will be back to Houston's next time.

Forced picture!!
We are ready to paint the town red.
Or at least red Texas Twister Fruit drink.
It wasn't cooler here.
The shade & music was nice.

Wagon Rides anyone?
Nope!! let's just get this over with.

Reminder we could try this one again
when it's a normal year.
Moquie Cave Museum
Way too many people for us in an enclosed cave.

Let's take the long way home through Zion's!!  The crowds were here too.  No shuttles running so we headed home.

Yummy Sunday Breakfast.

Still too hot to do much cooking or baking.  The weather claims it will be another hot week with temps of at least 115 degrees each day.  It's hot and dusty with no rain clouds in sight.

Here's to another week of school, swim, shopping, and hopefully getting some sleep.  We definitely need to get back into a regular schedule.

Unofficial First Day Post

Now that the official pictures have been posted there are additional ones that need to be shared.  We all have our first day jitters and ways of dealing with it.

How do I look?
He asked the sisters for help
selecting the perfect first day.

SRIS Bell Schedule
It's going to be crazy keeping track of this.

They are off.

These boys have had a fun summer.
Hanging out, driving a golf cart, and
swimming at a neighbors.
They are definitely ready for new adventures
in 7th Grade.

Love those dimples!!
She took her own first day picture.

Off to sophomore orientation
The cheering squad greeting
each student as they entered.

As I drove back through the parking lot everyone was either wearing their mask or had in their hands.  The pride I felt as I watched this kids take responsibility for themselves and the choices they make confirmed that we had made the right choice.

We made it through the first couple of days!!!!  Here is to an amazing school year and many adventures!!!
