John Sullivan Firecracker Invitational 2022

The day finally arrived for the travel swim meet of the year.  This year it's a whole lot closer than Montana and a whole lot bigger with 20 teams participating .  Las Vegas is closer and warmer with another plus more kids are going. Ryder worked hard to earn the money to go.  He is definitely ready for the trip, This year they are going in style.

Meeting spot was WCCC hopefully we can find them.

We had no problem finding the group.
Is the bus big enough?
Everyone was able to all ride together more team bonding.

They are off....

Send me a picture
Is always my text when the kids set out on an adventure.
Not much to look at out the window.
Nice seats to relax while on the bus.

Another send me a picture request.
This one took me some time to figure out.
My first guess was an air mattress with a pump.
Nope!!
A Belgium Waffle Maker
He was making his breakfast.

They made it!!
Why is he hiding in the behind everyone?

Another waffle breakfast.
This kid loves waffles of any type.

Another group picture

Hanging out between events.
Not sure how this happened that they are old enough to do this without parents.
Maybe its the chlorine acting like Miracle Grow with all the water.

Starting blocks!!

Hanging out with each other.

Everyone had a great time swimming their hearts out.  Ryder earned another state qualifying time.  He was exhausted when they finally made it home.  I hope he rests up to enjoy and can enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend.

June in Review

Crazy month of June is coming to an end.  We somehow survived that first month of summer.

Funny to receive congratulations on the
new addition that was coming.  OH, wait it's not a baby
but a puppy instead.

Love this view
Looking outside from desk.
Yummy crepes
Reganne treated me to breakfast at
the crepe shop near Sonic.
They were delicious and a definite have to go again.

Houdini!!
This time she got stuck!!
We tried opening the door but she was wedged really tight.
More wiggling and maybe some pulling.
She finally popped out.

Are you thirsty?
Bringing the water bowl from by bathroom.

Nope!!
Not thirsty just wanted to play.
Another mess to clean up.

Is the temperature correct?
133 degrees?
In the drive thru at Del Taco.
It cooled down about 10 degrees when we started to move.

Bring on July and the heat!!!

It's Alive!!!

Have you ever been sitting watching tv and all of a sudden the iRobot Rumba starts peeping, chirping, and whirling.  Followed by Indy running and jumping on Dave for protection.  Indy & Piper had been chasing each other around the room and she jumped on the vacuum which started the activation mode.  It was time to sit back and watch the show that was just getting started.

It wasn't me!!

I'm looking for a small dog to torment.

There she is.
Which one is going to pounce first?

Look who is in charge now!!

Wait a minute you were just
in front of me.

I will be brave
and
show it who is boss.

It was a fun 5 minute show I returned it to the docking station.  Funny thing now is that Indy stays far way from where it is docked.  We are easily entertained around here.

Happy Father's Day

For a dad that deserves to rest, relax, and take a nap if he wants to.  Dave has had a busy couple of weeks with the swim meet, work, many many projects that all scream for his attention. I have discovered a major plus to having teenagers they become very creative with celebrations.  Full of secrets at every turn.

A snack box full of yummy treats
aka a storage organizer perfect for nuts, bolts, and tiny screws.
Washing it all down with Dad's.

What's this?

Read carefully...

Surprise!!
His own motorcycle that they can work on together.

Steaks for dinner!!

Hopefully, Dave had a good day.  Everyone had fun planning their own surprises.  We sure love this guy and all he does for us.  Let's hope he finds more time to relax before next year.

2022 UT CHAT Invitational Swim Meet

Long Course season is in full swing.  This also means traveling a little further for swim meets.  CHAT is based in Cottonwood Heights which is just before heading up Little Cottonwood Canyon.  Ryder was so excited to go first of all to compete but second it was going to be a boys trip.  I had to stay home due to required new hire training.

Dave & Ryder were off on a fun adventure...

The pool looks inviting.
It was a little chilly for early morning warmups.

Photo courtesy of the swim moms
They knew it was killing me to be home.

It warmed up a lot over the course of the morning.
No sunscreen or long pants.

Shadow Mountain Apartments
Dave showing off were it all began.
The top floor apartments where we both lived.
Mine was on the left and Dave's off to the right.

Old cars

Crazy museum

More motorcycles
A great way to pass the afternoons between sessions

Oops!!
Sunscreen didn't really help with slowly swelling
sunburned feet.

It was a great meet and they both survived and headed home.  Next meet is another traveling meet to Las Vegas over the 4th of July weekend. Time to rest up, refuel, and practice the team is getting into the summer flow.

Employee Appreciation Event

IHC shows how they care about their employees and families.  This afternoon they hosted an event full of games, activities, treats, and dinner for all employees and their families.  It was a warm day but still bearable to be outside for longer periods of time.  Dave was on setup and tear down of course he had spent most of the day there.  He also made many trips from the hospital to the college getting supplies.  Of course he ended up helping out other departments with their setup.

Time to cool off
Water spraying every where
Courtesy of St George Fire Dept.

It's amazing how much water can spew out
and of course getting everyone wet in sight.
There is the firetruck
Love the excitement from the kids.
The smiles on the fire fighters was even better.

We all stayed dry
It was time to start cleaning up.
These two were on a mission to gather up the garbage cans.

Dinner was good and we tried something new canned water.  I wasn't so sure about giving a try.  However, I was dying of thirst something is wrong with a pop top on water.  It was good for purified water and maybe start a new trend.

Thanks IHC and all many employees that put in their extra time to make this a success.

Life Change

A whole lot of changes were in progress in May.  June the changes were completed!!

June 3rd I officially retired from SkyWest after 22 years.

It became clear to me that I needed a change.  I updated or rewrote my resume for some possibilities in IT.  As a challenge to myself I decided to submit it to one other job posting outside of what I was currently doing.

I received a job offer from Balance of Nature.  However, it became apparent that my future was already set with SkyWest.   After a really rough month of trying to decide what I should do.  A whole lot of prayers, fasting, and asking opinions of everyone around me.  The peace & calm I felt about the change pushed me forward to something new.

Monday, June 6th came bright and early.  I started at Balance of Nature in the Issue Authority Department as the Project Manager.  Not so fast... I need to first complete a 2 week training for all new hires. I had jumped into a new company, new job, and a new culture.  I had literally jumped into the fire and I was excited for the unknown.

Smoothie Bar
Each morning there a smoothies available for everyone.
I have never had a green smoothie before.  This one was yummy!

Training Schedule
Also, time to start learning new things and ideas.
Learning about the company was also a must.
The best part of training was making new friends with my class and instructors.

More updates in the future as I learn about this opportunity that was given to me.  How will our family survive the summer with me having zero time off?  Come along for the ride and enjoy the adventure of this new direction and life changes.
