Fun Saturday

After a late night at the rodeo the kids were ready for more fun at the rodeo parade.  This year they changed the time to an early morning parade.  The crowds weren't as big nor was the candy yet we were ready for some fun.

Loved this truck and veterans.

New Food Truck it even and bubbles coming out the top.
After the parade it was time for soccer and Reganne was eager to get the game started.  As we got settled the game was ready to start.  Ryder asked why the other team was wearing jail uniforms.  I thought they were cute but I am only a mom.

Reganne playing defender.
Finally, back at her favorite position.
She was in heaven playing the goalie again.
Birthday weekend wiped this boy out.
You must be tired to fall asleep in this position in over 100 degree weather.
The girls won again by 3 goals.  Reganne was asked if she wanted to continue as goalie, of course she replies.  She officially starts goalie training this week and is really excited to learn more.

Happy 8th Birthday

It was time to party the big day had arrived.  Ryder was ready to party.  He had his day planned it was going to be a busy day.

Student of the Week Poster
He eagerly gathered pictures and instructed Dave on what to draw.

One present before leaving for the rodeo.
Cool!!! A light saber!!!

Another picture???
Everyone anxiously waiting for the show to start.
Donkey and Watermelon Relay Race
A fun break from the action.
Where did these two wheeled animals come from?
These guys sure are talented with jumps & flips.
The kids had to stay until the very end.
No time to sleep there were more presents t open.
Reganne wrapped this one real good with plenty of tape.
All the cub scout stuff an eight year old would need.
Singing Happy Birthday
Oh, how he has grown up this year he sat and smiled loving the attention.
Gone is birthday cake
instead
A birthday day chocolate pie.
Making a wish.
He went to bed with a smile on his face and not wanting the day to end.  He reminded me that it would be his birthday again in 365 days.  He must have learned that at school during math.

We sure love this little boy and are looking forward the adventures be will bring our way.

The Best Part

Of turning eight years old is getting rid of your booster seat.  He has been waiting "patiently" for the day he no longer had to use one.  I asked Dave if he wanted to donate it but he refused saying it was too old to be used again.  I yelled at Ryder to come and help me.  He wasn't sure what I wanted but agreed to help anyway.

Grab your booster seat and follow me.
I opened the lid and told him to throw it away
First try
Not the right angle to get it in.
Second try
It was good up and over.
and in.
Success the seat was gone for good.  After 13 years of having these in our cars it was great to finally to be done with them and not have to worry any longer.  I did get a little nervous about the laws and I confirmed that is 8 years old or 80 pounds whichever comes first.

Another phase has ended at our house and this one isn't sad at all.

Surprise!!!!

Yellow Seedless Watermelon

This summer I have been on a fruit & vegetable kick trying to eat them while in season.  Bountiful Baskets provided this interesting piece of fruit.  As Dave sliced it open he wasn't sure what he had and neither was I.  A quick trip through the garbage can to find the label confirmed that it was a watermelon.  It wasn't as sweet but just as yummy.  The kids refused to try it but that left more for Dave & I.

Amazing side note it is getting easier to eat more fruits & veggies when you cut them up and put into individual containers.  However, it's also easier for everyone else to eat them too.  I shouldn't complain just make more.

Sports Update

It seemed really quiet this past weekend without all the practices & games.  Lucky for me the break didn't last long.

Football gets the heart pumping and these boys grab your attention with their smiles and enthusiasm for each play.  Ryder received the MVP Player of the Game with his rushing 20 yards.  However, I was at the wrong angle to see it closely or catch a picture of it.  No more sitting in the end zone in the shade.

Soccer Saturday started early this week and lucky for us since it was going to be another warm day.  Dave to able to see and cheer for his first game.

Playing defender
Not her favorite position but she did really well.
New job of throw ins.
Her fancy foot work was impressive and focus on the ball was amazing.  One small problem the ball was attracted to her or rather her nose.  She came running off the field a little stunned and as she stopped the blood started to flow.  She was out for the remainder of the game.  Disappointed but she didn't feel well enough to continue.  They won 3-2!!!! Good Job girls.  They were hot, sweaty, and tired time for a swim at Coach Wendy's house.

Water Fun!!

Getting everyone ready for bed and in bed proved to be a task.  Getting them up didn't.  They were all up and ready to go.  Lucky the small storm that came through faded and it was time to go.

The kids were ready to play.
Are you sure about this?
Yep it is fun!!!

Rachel & Ryder staying behind.
Having fun building in the sand.
A minor glitch the boat died while taking the second load of kids.  Luckily another boat came near enough to get a tow.  Everyone was rescued and still wanting to have have.

Beach fun it was!!!
Building sand castles, playing in the water, and eating snacks.

Everyone was hungry but showers were required first to avoid swimmers itch.  Eating at Chuck A Rama proved to be just the ticket.  Full bellies, lot's of fresh air, and exercise should have equaled sleepy kids.  NOT!!!! Early bedtime was not a go either,  A tired mom was the answer and everyone headed off to bed.

Labor Free Weekend

We were all excited to have a long weekend off without any scheduled activities and the cousins came to enjoy the weekend with us.

Let's release all our stress by going swimming.
They made sure I got my hair wet before we left.
No pictures of that way too scary.
Children's Museum
They were all running to fast for me to catch many pictures.

Trying to round everyone up for lunch.
There were still 5 missing but we enjoyed the small Japanese Garden.

Fighting boredom
with a quick trip to the park.,
Water, Swings, Scooters, and cousins to play with.
Presents for Rachel's 8th Birthday
Happy 8th Birthday Rachel!!!
Not sure who was more excited her or the other kids??
Rachel was!!! She blew out the candles before we could even sing to her.
The cake quickly disappeared along with Uncle Ryan's gourmet ice cream.  Ryder informed me that I need to visit Lin's Market to get Red Button Ice Cream. It's the best!!!!

Time for bed so we can go play tomorrow at the lake.  Not going to happen anytime soon.

A Twisted New Game

I am always amazed at what Dave brings home from work.  He thought it would be great to see if we could pick the right jelly beans.  Ryder & Reganne were willing to try.

Pick the nasty or tasty jelly beans.

Dang they all look the same.

First up...Grass Clippings or Juicy Pear, Dog Food or Chocolate Pudding
Coconut or Baby Wipes ??

A yucky one.
Reganne's turn which will she pick?
Oops another yucky one!!
Rylee's turn
She picked Tuti-Fruite instead of Stinky socks.
She still spit it out since she didn't like it either.
Then with a lot of begging I tried a couple and failed as well.  I selected Grass & Baby Wipes.  The kids begged Dave to try instead he stuffed a doughnut in his mouth.  The flavors were true to life you could smell the dog food across the room.  Thank goodness no one found the barf ones.

What will we do with the leftovers?  Any volunteers?

Waters' Sports Update

The week started again with sports on our minds.  Surviving practices in the hot August sun is usually something we enjoy.  However, they are good sports and eagerly followed their coaches instructions.
Wednesday was Ryder's 2nd game and all the boys were excited to get the game started.  The Cowboys were hot tonight they scored on the first play.

Ryder's favorite position "Hiker"
It's the easiest he claims.
Following instructions from the Referee.
This one was so patient with the boys.  He was very positive as he worked with them.
Listening to their coach.
Amazing Ryder is finally the same size as these boys.
One more play!!!
As I left the field to pick up Rylee a loud crack of lightening could be heard and felt.  Game play stopped for 30 minutes at least but the thunder came quickly followed by the rain.  Game over!!! Rescheduled for sometime in September.

Soccer Saturday arrived and once again a change in the schedule.  They decided it was way to hot to play in Mesquite and traffic was restricted in the gorge.  Instead we would play at the elementary school and instead of 110 degrees it was only 108 degrees.  The girls were eager to get the show on the road and play the Blast.

Grabbing the ball.
Playing Goalie and this week without backup.
Where did the ball go?
Reganne isn't afraid to get in front of it.
Notice the green player..She was their goalie.
She was bigger than all our girls and as she ran toward the goal
Reganne was afraid of her running over her.
The game ended with a goal scored in the final seconds.  It was obviously off-sides, but the ref was looking elsewhere and missed the call.  The game ended in a tie 2-2.  It was a tough game they were pretty well matched in skill if not in size.  I could have done without their coaches constant screaming at his players, but when you hear their parents screaming no mercy I understood.

Let's hope it starts cooling down by the next games or we will all melt.

One Season Ends

Another one begins that season is Football & Soccer and a new season of Water's Sports Center.  Ryder is once again playing flag football with his friends from school  He is on the Cowboys Team and they are ready to play.  Lucky them they get to play the same team they lost the championship too last year.  They were ready for a rematch.

Everyone is ready to get the show on the road.

Hiking the ball

Making the fake play.
They played their hearts out but lost by a touchdown.  They all had smiles on their faces and were happy about being able to play.

Saturday arrived with and with it Reganne's first game with her new team & league.  She was so disappointed to find out that she had aged out of the league that she has been playing with for the past 2 years.  The only option was to move up to the competitive league.  After much thought, a few prayers, and talking to parents & friends we decided on Rage FC Program.

There were a lot of nervous, questions, and uncertainty about what would happen with this new group of girls.

Shaking hands to start the game.

Familiar position... Goalie

Playing another position a defensive back.

Team cheers
They played awesome and the score was 5 to 2 with this new Rage FC team pulling out the win.  They were hot, sweaty, and tired but all smiles.  We are so proud of Reganne and the progress she is making in this sport she loves.

We did get a little sunburned but we all had fun.  Next week's game is in Mesquite.  We will wish we were back in Cedar City.

I love watching the kids play and have fun it is the best.
