See Ya Later

To a family tradition that has lasted too many years to count.  Getting up early and devouring the Thanksgiving newspaper.  Dave & Ryder went out to buy doughnuts for breakfast and hopefully find a newspaper full of ads.

They brought one home with something missing... a lot of something missing.  Gone was the bulging paper held together with an elastic ready to burst.  In its place was a thin flat paper with a few ads spilling for the inside.  It looked really sad sitting on my table.

What a waste of $5

Time is marching on!! Time to get ready for Christmas and decorating.  This year I am trying to pack the everyday decorations away.  Clean and redecorate for Christmas.  That is the plan it may not be as simple as that we will keep you posted.

Happy Thanksgiving...Time to Eat

Everyone is starved!!! A busy morning of cooking, putting up Christmas lights, and the family parade.  It was time to sit down and enjoy all our hard work.

Good sign
their plates are full.

Enough food for seconds

No hot dogs this year.
Instead a big sandwich & chips for Reganne.

Looking a lot like Christmas.
Dave & Ryder did a good job.

Dessert!!
If anyone is still hungry there is still the dessert.

We are so thankful for all the many blessings we have been given.  Thankful for the opportunity to share our meal with new members of our family.  I hit 10,000 steps today without leaving the kitchen. Time to relax and watch a Christmas movie.

Happy Thanksgiving....Food Prep

I am really tired of being in the kitchen all by myself for the 2nd year in a row.  Delegate, make assignments, and teaching how to's.  I am already exhausted and it's only 10:00.  The turkey is brined and in the oven.  Time for my first assistants the Waters Fruit Salad.

Dave, Ryder, and Ruston
Chopped, dumped, and whipped up the yummy salad.
Only issue is how long to whip the cream.
Stop before it turns to buttar.

Crockpot Stuffing
I haven't made this in a few years.
This year's was a little herby.

Homemade Mac & Cheese
I found the recipe on Instagram.
A little dry but a whole lot of flavor.

I missed taking a picture of Reganne's veggie tray.  She did an amazing job chopping & making the veggies good enough to eat.

This will be a good tradition to continue.  The only change I will make is one dish at a time less confusion and a lot less people to trip over.  I am still on the look out for a good creamy cheesy mac & cheese recipe.

Happy Thanksgiving...Car Parade

Everyone has worked hard getting ready for Thanksgiving Dinner.  It is now time to take a deep breathe and enjoy the 2nd Annual Waters Family Parade.  We invited a few more friends and added another car.

Time to ride and enjoy the beautiful fall afternoon...

Cade & Destiny
Trying to decide which car to ride in.

Reganne
Begging for them to join her.

Rylee & Ruston
Remove all the dust before starting the drive.

Lined up
and ready to roll.

We headed off...Then the racing began each car trying to take the lead.  Reganne driving the Nova took over the lead and wasn't giving it up freely.  You can say both girls drive like Dave and having a lot of fun scaring me to death.

Reganne was the winner of a turkey dinner.  We were all ready to get the food on the table and eat.  Car racing builds up an appetite.

Family Snap Shots

Another random snapshot of a busy week.

Courtesy of Rylee
Ruston surprised her with flowers & goodies at work.
She was having a rough day.  He hoped to make it a little better.

Sunday Dinner w/ a new recipe
Mississippi Pot Roast with Noodles
Reganne didn't like how spicy it was.
Ryder didn't like the chewy noodles.
The rest of us enjoyed it.

Bread sticks & Muddy Buddies
Both cool down the spice.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

I love the randomness of the pictures.  The votes for the dinner were 3 against and 4 approved.  I will make this again but adjust the spice by reducing the peperoncini instead of a full bottle maybe half will do.

Here's to another busy week with hopefully some adventures thrown into it as well.  Hopefully, a whole lot of snapshots.

UT HAST Fall Back Bash

Our swim club received an invite attend the HAST Fall Back Bash Meet in American Fork.  We missed the last club meet due to Grandpa Chris' funeral.  There wasn't much begging or pleading needed to convince us to make another trip North.  Swimming and family make any trip worth while.  We of course running late and had to meet Grandma JeanAnn at the meet.  Ryder declared my driving was the reason and we had better hurry.  I was in charge of directions which confused Ryder.  How does Mom know the way since she has never been here before?  I quickly set the record straight that I definitely knew where I was going since this is where I grew up.  The boy needs to be taken on a little tour and shown the sights.

We made to the rec center which used to be where the Jr. High was back in the old days.  He had just enough time to find the rest of the club and warm up.

Warm Ups

Meeting with Coach Mike

Dave found these yummy
crackers in the vending machine.
I definitely need to find a larger bag.

Here we go...

Saturday warm ups

Which has the longest wing span?
Dave still wins but only by an inch or two.

Meeting for lunch @ Whistle Wok
Emily & Girls, Randy & Britton

I personally like Panda Express but good enough to feed us all.  It was fun to relax, eat, and just visit.  We took Grandma home and then it was our turn to head towards home.  Ryder had work and we had to teach our class.  We had a great weekend and Ryder had a great meet.

Happy Anniversay

We have another busy weekend planned and it's our 34th Wedding Anniversary.  No pressure to celebrate but let's make it a fun day.  Ryan, Emily, Joshua, and Grandma were back in town for Gracie's band competition and DSU.  Let's kick off the day in the sun with a lot of music.

Taking the stage

Setup or Take down
Both require a lot of planning and moving fast.

They did a great job.
They put on a great performance and moving onto
the finals tonight.

Vaccine Mandate Protestors
They lined the River Road from the hospital
to 5 Guys Burgers.
I wish that we could all find some middle ground.

Ryder shared pretzel bites
All I can say is yum.

Anniversary Flowers

Ryder delivers
Our special dinner.

Happy Anniversary!!

It was a fun weekend.  What more can we ask for on a weekend than marching bands, loud music, Culver's food, protestors, and warm weather.

Happy Anniversary Dave!!

Happy Halloween

We found a little time to celebrate the beginning of the holiday season.  The big dilemma this year occured 5-6 years ago what day do you celebrate  Halloween when it's on Sunday?  We were driving home on Saturday we were willing to see if anyone showed up on Sunday.

Reganne with her skeleton earrings.

They matched her t-shirt
She stole it from my closet.

Rylee
Grand American Staircase

I'm not sure what she is showing me
besides her tongue.
Hopefully having fun and staying warm.

Reganne's Special
Chili Cheese Dogs for dinner

The night was cold & dark with only one trick or treater all night.  Gave her a handful of candy and tried to give Dexter or Piper to her.  She love the idea but her dad not so much.

We are all tired emotionally and physically by Sunday night.  I am not sure we are ready for another busy week starting tomorrow.

Saying Goodbye

To Grandpa Chris was not an easy thing to do.  He has been a huge presence in our lives for the past 15 years.  We are headed North for the funeral on Saturday.  This is the one time I am grateful for teenagers not having to worry about trick or treating.  Since it was early out Friday we left after school let out for the day.  We had to be in Springville by 5:00 for the viewing.

Funeral Program
This is a good picture of him.

Great to be with family.
Darryl, KrisAnn, and Bryan

Saturday morning arrived a little early for me.  We need to be there early to meet with the mortuary & bishop before the viewing started.

Amazing how much family,
friends, and neighbors came to say goodbye.
Most important giving support to each other.

Hugs from Bryan & Randy

Sibling Picture
Way too many years since our last one.

Adding Mom and a few spouses

Brothers minus one.
Where did Randy wander off to?

Graveside Service

Pallbearers
The girls had bets who was going to trip and fall first.
Surprise!!  Nobody did.

Family

Grandsons
Maybe a little overwhelmed.

The ice broke with Uncle Bryan.
Time to braid his hair.

Grandma on a mission.
Reganne & I had a hard time keeping up with her.

Side trip to visit Grandpa Roy's grave.

Family dinner
Ryder was excited for funeral potatoes & ham.

There were even empty tables.

It was a wonderful service with many friends and family paying their respects.  Most important was eating food food, visiting with family, and finding time to breathe after a crazy couple of weeks.  We are going to miss Grandpa but know he is out of pain and suffering no more.

We are headed home tonight due to work schedules and teaching assignments.
