I did say that this school year was going to be full of new adventures. Little did I know that one of those was going to be rather large and noisy. Ryder has wanted to be in band since February when the band teachers visited the 5th graders. He instrument of choice was the trumpet. It was small enough that he could bring it home on his bike each day. It was also cool enough that he could practice with other kids in the neighborhood.
The first day of school the band teacher once again pulled out all the instruments for the kids to try. The brass class started out with over 15 wanting the trumpet and a few with the trombone. She then brought out the baritone for them to check out and even give it a try.
Ryder was sold..... There are only a few of the kids ready to accept the challenge instead of competing with all the trumpets he could be one of few. He even could get a decent sound out of it.
They all got their instruments on Wednesday and can I please bring it home to show everyone on Friday?? I will need a ride home from school since it won't fit on my bike.
He will develop some muscles carrying it. |
It looked big him carrying it. It now looks even bigger in the van. It takes up the whole seat. |
It's the case that makes it so heavy. I did have to agree once I held it. |
It's loud and deep. Ginger started to bark as soon as he played the first note. |
Showing Rylee and letting her give it a shot. |
A standoff!!! |
Two weeks in he passed off the assignments to start learning to play. The teacher also is giving them time to practice during homeroom. He will bring it home again during long breaks or when he needs more practice time.
Ear plugs anyone???
