Rodeo Weekend: The Rodeo Breakfast

Bright and early on Saturday Morning was the Rodeo Breakfast. This year it was promoted by the schools for a fundraiser for the school choir. Last years was so much fun. That of course we had to go this year. All the better that it supports our school. The added bonus was good food, good weather, and great friends.

Rylee, Reganne, and Rodeo Queen and Princess

As I was standing there the owner handed us discounts for a new place in town. It is based on the Discovery Gateway Children's Museum. We can't wait to go and play.
It was a fun morning and the soon the crowds appeared. I think this will be a great addition to the rodeo.
We were off to soccer.

Rodeo Weekend: The Rodeo

The parade ended and after a QUICK (not) dinner at Ice Berg. We were off to the rodeo. The kids were so excited to see the horses, clowns, and bulls.

Rylee and Ryder playing while we waited for it to start.

At last it started.

The opening ceremony was great with Firemen, Soldiers, tanks, and helicopters.

They watched until the very end. It was a fast moving rodeo with a lot of activities. It kept your attention until the very end.

Rylee & Reganne made us promise to go again next year.

Rodeo Weekend: The Kids Parade

Last weekend was the annual Lions Dixie Roundup Rodeo and activities. This is one weekend that all the locals support and look forward to each year. Every year I have promised Rylee that we would do more, but there has always been something come up. This was to be the year. She remembered my promise and was holding me too it.

Friday afternoon was the Kids Parade. The school sent home flyers encouraging the kids to come and participate to defend their title. Off we went with our friends the Wheelers to start a fun filled weekend.

Rylee, Reganne, and Dakota

The parade was about 1/2 mile long. Rylee said no problem we walk farther than that from school. I told them they needed their tennis shoes and socks on. Reganne of course argued she wanted flip flops.

Ryder shading his eyes or rather mimicing me as I was watching the parade with the sun in my eyes.
He loved the parade because they threw candy to him. It took him a few minutes, but then with the help of Jacy he picked up a lot. He wasn't so sure about sharing however.

Soccer Week #3

This week was a running game. Each week seems to bring something different the girls need to learn. This week was a running game. Each team would steal the ball away from the pack and take off running. The pink team were faster runners so they made multiple goals. Ladybugs tried keeping up with them, but their strongest player would take over for which they were no match.

Reganne was in true form this week kicking the ball. She has the distance on her kicks. However, she over kicks to her team and then the scramble begins.

Kickoff

Kicking it in.

The scramble

Not soon after this scramble Reganne had an opening and gave a mighty kick. However, her feet flipped out from under her and landed on her head. She was about a foot off the ground. She was more scared than hurt, but I had an ice pack ready for her head and a hug for her tears.
She was ready to play again in a couple of minutes. Too bad the game had only 30 seconds left. She kept saying Mom, my team needs me. I love the positive attitude & team spirit she is developing.

This great team banner was donated by the Washington County Sherrif's Dept. The coaches post this near our goal to help the girls know which way to go.

Happy 3rd Birthday !!

Ryder turned 3 years old yesterday. The celebrating began on Friday with treats for daycare. He came home with a birthday crown and a goodie bag from his teachers.

The family party was Saturday night. He couldn't decide what he wanted on his cake. Buzz, Woody, Mater, and McQueen. I changed his mind for him and did a firetruck cake. He is so fascinated by firetrucks and fire fighters. When he saw the cake his first reaction was "That's not Queen!" Second reaction was "Look Fire Trucks"

How do you shop for birthdays with the birthday person along with you. As we were shopping at Walmart for him. I turned around for only a minute. When I turned back around Ryder & Reganne were filling the cart with toys he had to have for his birthday. He then had to sit in the back of the cart with the toys so he could watch them.

Finally, the party started. He wouldn't open his presents without Rylee helping him.

Fireman Cake

He was all excited about eating cake. Then everyone started singing Happy Birthday and the shyness kicked in. We told him to blow out the candles. He turned to Dave and asked him to help him.

Finally, the fanfare was over and everyone ran off to play. He was content to sit there with his new firetruck eating his cake.

He had a great birthday full of little boy stuff. Firetrucks, big trucks, trains, and games.

Happy Birthday Stinky Brother! We Love You!

Soccer Week #2

Week two was all about defense. The teams were evenly matched so only 3 goals were scored. Reganne scrambled and blocked a goal by slide kicking it out of the way.

Kick Off

Defense
Reganne had a lot of fun. The girls all get along and hug each other goodbye. Later in the day we were shopping at Walmart. A little girl from the other team ran upto Reganne and gave her a big hug. She told h er mom that this was her soccer friend.

Labor Day Update

Our side yard remodel project is still in progress. It is starting to take shape. Dave planted 4 additional pine trees. This will give this side of the house a break from the sun.

He is making two planting beds for a small garden. The concrete curbing is the current project and it takes awhile. He can only do one section at a time.
More updates to follow as the work progresses.

Soccer Season Begins Again

Who would have imagined that Reganne would beg to play soccer again? Not me that is for sure. Since spring she has asked if she could please play soccer again. We signed her up for the fall season in May. Then the waiting game began. We had a parents meeting on Tuesday, practice on Thursday, and the first game on Saturday.

She is on the Ladybugs team with 4 other little girls Bella, Angel, Tailor, Ally.

The official pose.

They had a 30 minute practice time with the kids before the game started. Reganne jumped in with both feet and followed whatever the coaches asked her to do.

Kick off

Waiting for the ball to be thrown in.

Reganne & Bella waiting for their turn to play.

It was a great game. Reganne score 1.5 goals. The .5 she kicked it to the goal line and the other team kicked it into the goal. The other she did all by herself with a mighty kick. The high fives and cheering, she was all smiles. I also think a litte unsure of what she had done at first.

She loved playing and can't wait for next week. I am amazed how much difference 2 years makes.
Go Ladybugs!!!!

Truly Labor Day

We are celebrating a four day weekend with Labor Day. Dave has a lot of projects he wants to tackle. Our first stop on Saturday morning was to Home Depot. We had to wait for assistance with the screen doors. The kids entertained themselves with various games. Thumb wars was only one of many as we were waiting our turn.

His projects this weekend are to fix up the side yard with new pine trees, concrete curbing around the planting beds for future planting, and lastly put screen doors downstairs on the patio so the fresh air can circulate.

I declare a thumb war!!

They were so good during the wait. We headed to Petco to look at the animals and buy fish food. Whoops!! it was adoption day with alot of cats. The kids didn't want to leave and wanted a kitten.

The weekend just started and the projects are under way. Hopefully, more pictures to follow.

Big Trucks, Firetrucks, Diggers

Ryder discovered the big trucks section of the library. When we walk in he is at a dead run towards them. Last week he checked out three books Backhoes, Big Wheels and Big Rigs. Every day we read them at least 3 times. Once during reading time, once after bathtime with Dad, and then in the morning with Rylee.

This week turned out to be no different. However, he found more than three. He had a stack of 7 books and was quickly putting more in his pile. We compromised and only brought home 4.

Ryder and his books

Ryder reading his books

He will sit here and look at each one. Until somebody sits down beside him. then watch out you will be reading all of them.

He even had to sleep with them. After he fell asleep I found him on top of them snuggled down in his blankets.

I hope he will always be like this with books.

Summer Reading Program

I am always looking for new ideas to keep the kids interested in reading. This summer our library's summer reading program was "Make A Splash, Read". Rylee finished this week. She wasn't very happy about going to the library this week, but went anyway. She took her reading sheet to the librarian. When she came back she was all smiles with extra prizes. I think she felt a great sense of accomplishment. Reganne however is a week behind her. So hopefully, this week she will finish.

I did it !!!
An added bonus Ryder decided he wanted in the picture to show everyone his books.

Music and the Ear Pot

I don't know how it is at anyone else's house, but at ours the kids forget about toys for a period of time. Then they want them and it's the only thing they want to play with.

Sunday, was one of those days. The girls remembered the Ear Pots and got them out to listen to. Well, Ryder wanted to listen too. Rylee set hers down and Ryder quickly picked it up and put it on. He started dancing and jumping around.

When I tried to take it away the smile vanished and tears started. When the camera appeared the dancing and jumping stopped. He spilled all over his clothes at breakfast and refused to wear them. I refused to dress him again since we had church shortly.
