Shred Fest 2012

If there wasn't enough going on today I needed to add another stop to the list.  The first annual shred fest was being held at the college in conjunction with DocUtah Film Festival starting this weekend.  Everyone was encouraged to bring their shredding for free.  They were even recycling old electronics.  My little garbage can was done in seconds.  For the kids there was a bounce house to jump in and the local radio station was blasting music to enjoy.

 I'm tired and hot

We are all tired.

Time to go home and eat lunch.  On the way home I turned on the radio and would you believe it.  It was playing the same music as was in the parking lot as we were driving towards home.  SURPRISE!!!  The man talking on the radio was the same man we talked to.  Shawn asked if he could hear us if we talked back to him.  Everybody looked at him and replied NO!!!

Second Soccer Game of the Day

We had a 1/2 hour between games just enough time to find the right field.  Reganne was excited to start the season.  She is playing with a new team and girls all from Little Valley area.  She even talked her friend Frankie into joining her on the team.  It was still really hot and this game is even longer.

The game started off with a bang.  Both teams scored in the first minutes.

 Block that goal.

 It's hot and sweaty...will they survive until the end of the game?

They did and everyone left the field with smiles and eager to play next week.

They played really well for the first game of the season and some of them their first game ever.

Soccer Season...First Games

Soccer season started with a bang or should I say the heat.  It was supposed to be cool with the possibility of rain.  Instead the temperature by 11:00 was close to 90 degrees.  However, the kids were ready to get started.  This year Ryder's Team is once again the Blue Angels and all from our neighborhood.  These are all little boys that will go to school with him next year.

Minor problem someone forgot to tell the boys it was ours.  They were off and running without knowing where they were supposed to go.

They did really well for only having 4 players, being hot, and no shade.  Onto Reganne's game next.  Will we survive another game?

It's Official!!!

I am a Soccer Mom and have the minivan to prove it.

Soccer Season starting this week we decided that something needed to be done to get everyone to and from their various activities and games.  We started really looking on Monday, Labor Day.  All the good sales were being advertised so we should be able to find something.  Who knew there was that much variety in minivans.  I think we looked at every size, shape, and color in the space of 2 hours.  We found that the Honda Odyssey Touring Model was our best bet.  I wanted something that seats 7, check,  storage space, check, and good gas mileage, ok.  I guess two out of three ain't bad.

We found two in town, but the dealers refused to negotiate on their price and actually came back with higher prices.  Dave found one on ksl.com and after some negotiation the price was right.  Again we called the local dealers to see if they would match it so we could stay local.  Again they refused.  Dave & Rylee flew to Salt Lake and met the owner, closed the deal, and drove home all before 10:00. They arrived home at 5:00 very tired and ready to be done.

We are the proud owners of 2007 Honda Odyssey.  Today at church we counted 4 other white vans.  Time to jazz it up so we can tell the difference.

Mom did you know?

I am never sure what I am going to hear when this question is what I hear from the backseat of the car.  The latest one was on our way out of church getting into the Monster Truck and coming from Ryder.  As he climbed into the truck he said Mom did you know that Jesus had long hair and wore a dress like a girl?  How do you reply to that?  I have heard other parents asked the same question and have always been glad that it wasn't me.  Time had ran out and it was my turn.  Here goes..... That is how everyone dressed and wore their hair back then.

I don't know if was the right thing to say or not, but he smiled at me and climbed into his car seat and didn't say another word about it.

Only time will tell if I answered the right way or not.

Tubing Scary or Fun?

Break out the tubes the kids all shouted.  They everyone wanted to ride now.  Mean Old Mom made them take turns.  After loading the first victims and going over the hand signals they were off.

Terror or enjoyment?  The verdict was unclear.

 Hang on the waves are getting higher.  Don't kill us Dad!!!

The waves were starting to get to wild for tubing.  Dave was aching to get out on the knee board.  Time to deflate the tube and let Dad have his fun.

WHAT no pictures???  The kids all asked when I downloaded the pictures from the camera.  Why didn't you take any pictures of Dad?  I reminded everyone who was driving the boat so Dad could have fun.

You can tell time at the lake without having a watch.  Wind + Waves = Noon and time for lunch.

Everyone agreed that tubing wasn't scary but fun and we need to do it again and soon.

We have been waiting for a good Saturday to take everyone to the lake.  Our weather has been really flaky the last couple of weeks.  There are either black clouds and lightening in the morning or late afternoon.  Then out of nowhere it starts raining.  Those big drops that can drench you in a matter of minutes.  SURPRISE!!!  we woke up to sun and bright blue skies.  We were off before something changed.

 No Wake Zone... Why can't we go faster?

 We want to go faster!!!  Hold on here we go...

 Time to get wet...everyone jump in!!

 I did it...It's not cold....I'm not lying.

WHAT!!!! I thought you said it wasn't cold?

So much for playing in the water they wanted to try something else.
